How can you attack yourself? - in [[SN12.63 Puttamaṁsasutta]] Buddha said one who knows vinnana is "done" — he has nothing further to do. ([[SN12.63 Puttamaṁsasutta#^vinnana-parinna-nothing-further-to-do|source]]) - **@@@@** It's **MUCH easier** to go by **Namarupa** rather than going by Vinnana! - Eryu: this is like going by "a-sat" v.s. The bandit said: "You!" And the Arahat said, I'm already killed.. do whatever you want.. and the bandit was wowed by it and joined the Sangha, and became an aharat in 6 months 😄 - Another sutta [[MN23 Vammikasutta|MN23]] beautifully talks about nibbana! - Most people who originally joined the Buddha #sasana were royal people (princess, etc.), And they had Everything they need. Including [[Sariputta|Sāriputta]] and [[Moggallana|Moggallāna]], who was having "fun" everyday but then they found, "Everyday I'm having this fun. what's the point!? Nothing is changing!" 😄 - Vilas: you can enter into the 8th jhana via [[Anariya]] methods -- e.g. Yoga. But the **"tanha khaya"** will not happen as you get totally **addicted** to it. And that's where people get stuck. ## (2022-10-11) Note from Vilas on [[Vinnana|Viññāṇa]] the most puzzling question is what is viññanā. Viññanā is nothing but a streak of light that creates animation using the four dhatu's or elements making it look real. Nama & Rupa would be an identifier along with description. Now we have motion picture running where all concepts, ideas, opinions, thoughts, experiences, suggestions, identification, naming conventions, body growth, decay and death can be identified, found and experienced and what 'mind' can conceptualise as a world. In this world, with 5 senses and the mind, this streak of light (consciousness) makes what is impossible possible. That is, it can give a sort of life to lifeless object and it's description and designations. Due to fast actions that happens, one gets deluded just like one who goes to a movie where following has to take place: 1. Movie can be played with darkness with a small light projecting it 2. Motion is generated where-in the characters come to life and the viewer forgets all about the screen 3. He/she then fills the gap of the movie scenes with his/her thoughts and emotions 4. Due to sound and light, one is completely immersed which is done by citta -> vinnana due to light falling on the screen 5. He/she starts to experience whatever lifeless objects moving there is 'seemingly' experiencing 6. One forgets that he is watching something and rather gets immersed in that experience 7. Since viññanā has the ability to reflect back, one can reproduce that experience again and again by bringing it to lifelife
