# (2023-04-18) Visual Illustration of the 6R Method (Refined version)

## Summary
- The [6R Method](https://www.dhammasukha.org/the-6rs) ([[6R Method|notes]]) is a very simple yet superbly effective meditation technique developed by the _Venerable [Bhante Vimalaramsi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhante_Vimalaramsi)_ (as brief explained in this [Youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeJ2LaFaDCY) video)
- [[Vilas]] has proposed the addition of a _**"Remember"**_ (the meaning of [[Sati]], or "Mindfulness") stage, which is a primary focus of the overall meditation process (See the [[Samatha#Definition of Samatha (per Anapanassatikatha Ānāpānassatikathā )|Definition of Samatha]])
- Note that "Remember" & "Mindfulness" is ALSO mentioned in the forefront on the 6R website (see [[#^mention-of-remember|quote]]), where it is compared to as the _"gas for an engine"_.
- In actual sense, "Remeber" (i.e. Mindfulness) should encompass the entire 6R process, but separating it out as its own stage helps emphasizes the GOAL of meditation practice, that is — **_Remembering_ to keep the _Attention_** on the _Meditation Object_ — with the help of techniques mentioned below.
